It was all a bit surreal, arriving at the starting point for the Nike Human 10km Race and hearing what sounded like one of my favourite bands during my uni days. I dismissed it thinking, ‘what would Jebediah be doing in Singapore?’. Anyway as I got closer to the source of the music I saw them on stage. What a surprise. Sadly though no crowd to support them.

I haven’t really been homesick since moving here, but this was just a nice little surprise that made me feel all nostalgic about the good old days in the Backroom at The Grosvenor, the UWA Ref and the Big Day Out. Perth people will know what I’m talking about.

Anyway the Jebs were in town for the Nokia Baybeats 2008 event. Sadly I didn’t know about this and only turned up by chance.

The closest thing I’ve come to good Australian rock in the last 9 months is cover versions of ‘Land downunder’, and ‘Back in Black’; both of which sound awesome late at night after far too many pints! I guess I’ll have to keep an eye out for these events in future.

Well now that I’ve got my shiny new iPhone I thought I’d try out some of the apps from the AppStore so here’s my first post from my iPhone using the WordPress app. I’m still getting the hang of typing on here but I’m slowly getting better and the predictive text is pretty useful.

This is only number two app after Facebook.

So far I am pretty impressed.

Download WordPress for the iPhone.

I recently joined the iPhone craze only one week after the official launch here in Singapore. So far on day two I have not been disappointed. Apple make amazing products and right from opening up the packaging you know you’re getting something stylish.

So I got myself the 16GB Black iPhone which I have nicknamed the ‘Black Goddess’… so sleek and smooth!

Anyway, the first thing I wanted to do was change the ringtone as the standard selection just wasn’t doing it for me.

I was pissed off at first because just dragging my favourite MP3 to the ringtones folder didn’t work. It was surprisingly much easier when I got my BlackBerry where you can just set any MP3 as your tone. So I went online to find a solution and its surprisingly very simple.

You basically need select up to 30 seconds of your favourite song which you can do with an app that allows you to trim MP3s or you make a selection of a song in iTunes.

Once you’ve made your selection in your song you need to convert the MP3 file to AAC format which you can do from the ‘Advanced’ menu.

Next copy the new file to your desktop and change the extension from .m4a to .m4r. You’ll know this has worked because the icon will change and it will say ‘ring’ on it.

Next delete the AAC file from your iTunes and drag the new m4r file to your ringtones. Copy it to your iPhone and you’re done.

Easy Off BangOne thing I’m starting to notice here is a lot of products have been changed to suit the local market. I’m really not sure why the good old ‘Bam and the dirt is gone’ doesn’t work here though?

Singapore Jewellery StoreI’ve been thinking and thinking over the last 6 months living in Singapore that I should start my Blog. I’ve finally decided that to get me into the habit I’m going to start by taking photos of funny signs and ads that I find along my travels.

One that particularly amuses me on the way to work each morning is the ‘House of Hung’ Jewellery store. Well if diamonds are a girl’s best friend then a guy called ‘Hung’ who owns a jewellery store must be a real ladies man!

I’ll endeavour to keep you all updated with the things that make me laugh as well as some updates on what I’m up to here and on my travels.

Stay tuned!
