I recently joined the iPhone craze only one week after the official launch here in Singapore. So far on day two I have not been disappointed. Apple make amazing products and right from opening up the packaging you know you’re getting something stylish.
So I got myself the 16GB Black iPhone which I have nicknamed the ‘Black Goddess’… so sleek and smooth!
Anyway, the first thing I wanted to do was change the ringtone as the standard selection just wasn’t doing it for me.
I was pissed off at first because just dragging my favourite MP3 to the ringtones folder didn’t work. It was surprisingly much easier when I got my BlackBerry where you can just set any MP3 as your tone. So I went online to find a solution and its surprisingly very simple.
You basically need select up to 30 seconds of your favourite song which you can do with an app that allows you to trim MP3s or you make a selection of a song in iTunes.

Once you’ve made your selection in your song you need to convert the MP3 file to AAC format which you can do from the ‘Advanced’ menu.
Next copy the new file to your desktop and change the extension from .m4a to .m4r. You’ll know this has worked because the icon will change and it will say ‘ring’ on it.
Next delete the AAC file from your iTunes and drag the new m4r file to your ringtones. Copy it to your iPhone and you’re done.
